Caring for your kid’s teeth
Parents often have questions about how to take care of their children’s teeth. Knowing the answers to these questions can help you keep your kids’ teeth healthy and cavity free
When should you start brushing?
Although you don’t necessarily need to brush them yet, you should start cleaning your infant’s teeth as soon as they get their first tooth. At first, you can just use a wash cloth to clean your infant’s teeth. As they get more, you can use a soft children’s toothbrush.
When should you first go to the dentist?
It’s very important for your child to have his / her first dental check up before their second birthday. Baby teeth serve important purposes such as helping the child to speak normal and clear, and to chew naturally. Baby teeth also hold a place for permanent teeth to come in properly. It is even more crucially important if your child has risk factors for having problems with their teeth, such as sleeping with a cup or bottle, teeth staining, thumb or finger sucking.
